- Interview with Chairman Lee Byeng-Cheol

Global K-beauty group ‘Yakson Beauty’ has around 130 branches in Korea and overseas countries.
And they all offer the same quality treatment service.

In an interview with Money Today, Chairman Lee Byeng-Cheol said, “Differentiated service from systematic and high-quality training is the motor force of Yakson Beauty’s growth in Korea and global”.

- What is the current status of Yakson Beauty and business?
▶ Global K-beauty group, Yakson Beauty is Korea’s first beauty care company and operates 102 Korean and 28 global branches in seven countries. Yakson has annual sales of 80 billion won and has won the Grand Prize for Korea Brand Power for 8 consecutive years.

Currently, we have a premium skincare brand ‘DALIA SPA’, customized diet brand ‘YEORIHAN DIET’, and Yakson Beauty’s cosmetic brand ‘YAKSON COSMETIC’ as our family brands.

- The systematic training system of Yakson Beauty is well-known among the customers.
Yakson Beauty is popular with its same quality service at any branch.
What course do the therapists take and what is the most important point of the training?
▶ Rather than learning quickly, the curriculum of Yakson Beauty will be conducted for two to six years of in-based education and practice. After joining Yakson Beauty, the new therapists have to complete the third-degree course of Yakson Therapy, which is the most basic course of Yakson, and they will work at the Yakson branch. While working at the branch, they take technique training lessons and customer service lessons twice every month at the academy to provide high-quality treatments and the best service to clients. The most important point in training is to teach them the right body posture when providing treatments so that they do not get hurt.

- Yakson Beauty is actively working for social contribution. What kind of sharing Yakson Beauty is doing?
▶Yakson Beauty makes three main donations. They are monetary donations, talent donations, and knowledge donations.
Money donation is a scholarship. 
For talent donations, Yakson’s employees regularly visit an elderly center since 11 years ago. And they offer treatments for elderly. Most of them are very happy to receive Yakson treatments because they have never received that kind of treatment before. Also, executives and employees of Yakson who donate their talents feel proud and grateful for choosing a job as Yakson therapists. For knowledge donations, senior therapists of Yakson have become mentors to university students who wish to become Yakson therapists in the future.

- Customer Satisfaction is the most important these days. What strategies does Yakson Beauty have to improve customer satisfaction and communicate with customers?
▶We conduct a customer satisfaction survey after each treatment session to improve customer satisfaction. This is because Yakson Beauty needs to know how the customers are satisfied with Yakson’s service and treatments so that we can change or continue the program. Fortunately, we have been receiving high scores in the satisfaction survey. And we conduct re-training session when received "unsatisfied" by a client. In general, 98% are satisfied, and for the rest 2%, we have an ongoing training program to please every client.

- You are working hard for the development of the beauty and cosmetic industry. What plans do you have in the future?
▶ We plan to select cosmetic lines that our customers love and form a cosmetic lineup. From 2021, we will enter the retail market. Besides, we plan to release Dermatology-related cosmetics as interest in health increases after Covid-19’s outbreak.

Derma cosmetics are mainly sold online or in drug stores and derma cosmetic is a cosmetic that is based on dermatology and laboratory in South Korea.
In response to the emerging Derma trend, Yakson is actively developing a portfolio targeting people aged 15 to 34. Also, about ‘new distribution development’ (advance into the overseas market), the company plans to promote contactless marketing without borders between countries, live commerce (smart shopping), and others due to the proliferation of contact-free trading caused by Covid-19.

Also, many people miss the warmth of human (human touch) in this contactless trend. As a result, we will proceed developing products with human scale and story and carry out marketing activities that communicate directly with customers.

- Lastly, what is the goal and vision of Yakson Beauty?
▶My future goal is to make all clients in the world becoming more beautiful and healthier with Yakson Beauty. First of all, we provide expenses for our internal customers (employees)’ self-development. So they can grow. For external customers, we hope they can become more beautiful through Yakson therapy. So we aim to open 10,000 branches in the world. 
Besides, we have a plan to expand our family brand status.
