Last time, we knew about Korean holiday Seollal.
Seollal is the most important holiday in Korean with Chuseok.
Today, we are going to learn about Chuseok.
The Korean calendar is a hybrid one.
It is a mix of the Gregorian and lunar calendar.
So, Korean traditional holiday
of autumn harvest festival Chuseok,
occurs on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month.
Chuseok, also known as Hangawi.
This weekend, tens of millions of Koreans
returning to their ancestral hometowns.
Traditional rites include
an early morning ancestral worship ritual
and the tending of family tombs, called beolcho.
Most villages hold their own festivals.
These are a variety of
traditional plays and folk games
that vary by region.
Harvest festival,
food is a holiday highlight, called songpyeon.
